MEETING: INLAND EMPIRE (NO OSCB THIS MONTH)

2008-08-31 23:28:09

Due to the Rosarito Bash (Sept 10-12) there will not be an OSCB meeting this
month. But there will be the second Inland Empire Meeting at the Tyler Mall Food
Court. It is very easy to find, just off the 91 FWY at Tyler exit go North (you
can see the mall off the freeway), go to the back of the mall just south of
Pennys, you will see the outside dining area upstairs, enter their at the arch
that says Tyler Mall and there is a escalator just inside the door. Go to the
second floor. And you are there.
Any and all are welcome, any Doctors patient, banded, pre-banded, banded
support people ect, you do not have to be from the Inland Empire, you can drive
as far as you want to get to us.
I will post this info on the OSCB Board, Dr. Kuri Board & Spotlight Board.
If you know of any other bandster boards to post this to please do not hesitate
to do so. The more the merrier. Our first meeting was a success with 12 in
attendance.
DATE: Saturday September 4th, at 10am (the Mall is open)
I will be the lady with the balloon.
Hope to see someone, other than me, there.

Need Antibiotic - Ear Infection- Are they Safe?

2008-08-31 21:03:28

Hi Everyone!
I am up in the middle of the night with a ear infection and I am
wondering which antibiotics (if any) are safe for the band? I have a
feeling that if I go to emergency that they will have no idea.
Thank you!

Hey Deb Jones- I was just in Las Vegas-my mom lives there. Do you have a
before and after pic? How did u pick your doc for the tummy tuck?

Fill prices

2008-08-31 09:29:40

I have talked to some of these Drs and I can almost
gaurantee you that the huge fees are not just for "a
fill." It includes your first visit which is billed as
a consult, then they may (rightly or wrongly) insist
that you join their support group, and they may always
use flouro, and it may even include more than 1 fill.
That's why I always think its always a good idea to
call and ask.

hi dan..i disagree with you..dr. kurian. ren and george fielding are all under
500 and that includes the first visit of course that's without fluro.. those
are all new york city hospitals in manhatten. the problem comes when they want
to do an endoscope or gi and as a self pay you may need to mortgage the house.
however, they may have gone higher but never to that amount.
when i went to dr. kurian for my first fill i paid 200 for the first office
visit..the fill would have cost 150 but she wasn't able to fill me and did not
charge. had i continued with her the fills would have been 150. i now go back
to mexico for all my aftercare. i'm retired and do mini vacations when there.

I think maybe the obesity control center site was down for
maintenence before, but I was able to log on over there just now. I
was a so-called 'lightweight'at the time of surgery (32 BMI) and have
lost 60+ lbs, now a 22 BMI, so pretty close to goal. My port is
actually visible when I'm standing up, looks like I have a weird
extra rib or something. I'm having a tummy tuck in October in
Brazil. My surgeon is going to be here (in Las Vegas) in a few weeks
and I want to have my ducks in a row as to what Dr. O thinks before
my in-person consult with him, to see if I should get the port moved
at the same time... I sure don't want to do it twice if I don't have
to. I've worked hard to get the 'bikini belly' back and the tiny
scars that are my surgical badges I don't mind, but the weird ping-
pong ball poking out of my abdomen is bound to ruin the
effect..LOL!!! Deb Jones

A great deal of the variation in fill prices depends on location. I've
heard of a big city east coast doc charging 1400, which if it were in
a NYC hospital and had to include paying for the fluoro to the
hospital, might not be that bad.
C
Well, that's as cheap as I've heard of. I pay 100 in TJ with fluoro,
and the fee is to the lab for the fluoro, as my doc's services for
lifetime are included in the banding. I've paid 250 for a fill with
fluoro in the US, in a small town in TX. But that's cheap too, by
most standards.
And if you have to go a long way to get a cheap fill, or the provider
isn't very good, then that fill isn't so cheap.
I'm not defending a thousand for a fill, but like so many things in
life, it "all depends".

$1000.00 for a fill? That is outrageous. Can't someone out there help that poor
lady find a decent doctor that isn't out to gouge the patients?
I pay $100 for fill with or without fluoroscope.
Sorry had to add my two cents on outlandish prices for those of us who are self
pay and had to go out of the country for the band.

Dr. Kuri's Present (Kuri band & fill patients x-post)

2008-08-29 19:30:43

First off I want to thank everyone who has sent me their photo's so far. Below
is a list of all that I have (if you sent them and they are not on the list then
I haven't received them... Please resend)
Secondly, I NEED MORE... Please don't think that you haven't lost enough or
aren't far enough along... I have newbies in here that are only down a few
pounds (they just sent their "before" pics) as well as us slower losers in the
bunch (including myself). Every pound is a victory...
Please email me your pictures to: awayfrmitall @ comcast.net (remove the spaces)
Let this be fair warning that if I don't get enough pictures voluntarily I am
going to have to resort to swiping them off the web if you have them posted
publicly... I would rather not, but desperate times call for desperate
measures.... LOL
It is turning out really nice and I think Dr. Kuri will really appreciate it...
please be a part of this for him.

Re: [mexicanbandsters] Question for Dan..

http://www.obesitycontrolcenter.com/ works for me right now. Not sure
why you didn't get it, but maybe some little glitch somewhere. Stuff
happens.
drortiz@... works too, but know he gets lots of
email. Personally, I'd phone instead of emailing, since I consider
that much more efficient for that kind of thing.
Also, unless your port is REALLY protruding or causing some other
problem, why mess with it now? Wait until you've lost all your
weight. Almost no one will see it except your partner, and s/he will
probably be much more interested in the parts above and below the
port.
If this doesn't help enough, email me privately at the address in sig.

Hi Dan, Don't know if you'll remember me. I had surgery with Dr.
Ortiz back in January of this year and haven't been on the lists much
after the 1st month or so. Anyway, I've lost so much weight that my
port is protruding (some problem huh? LOL!!)and I'm considering
having moved. I e-mailed Dr. Ortiz a few weeks ago to ask for his
advice but never got a reply. This is unusual from what I know of
his normal way of doing things and so I got to thinking perhaps his e-
mail address has changed, but obesitycontrolcenter.com seems to not
be operational either. Do you have a working e-mail for him that you
could send me off-list? Thanks so much, Deb Jones

Hi,
Dr. Horgan at the Surgical Center listed in the database will do fills for a
Mexican patient for $1,000. The phone number listed is not correct though.
It should be 312-255-1900. I called their office this morning and verified
this information. Sylvia or any moderator, could you please update the fill
doctor database with the correct phone number?
I do know that Dr. Vitello does fills for Mexican patients at Good Samaritan
and he does prefer to make appointments by email only. The email address for
him in the database is correct and I understand he is good about responding to
emails. He supposedly does his fills in the evenings which can make it more
convenient for working folks.

Mexico...
I had my surgery with Dr. Ortiz and am very happy with my aftercare,
my results, no problems at all so far. I had my 2nd fill with him

Dr. Kuri is also very well known and experienced in TJ, both
doctors have preformed many surgeries and both have great
aftercare..I have a freidn who used Kuri and she is also very happy
with him.
Those would be the 2 that I know of with expereince and lots of

Looking for a doctor

2008-08-27 05:05:46

Hello,
My name is Jana and I'm new to the group. I've been researching the
lap-band for several months and I'm ready to move forward. My
insurance doesn't cover it. I tried but was denied.
A little about me. I'm 42 years old and I live in San Diego. For the
past 8 years I've been 125 pounds overweight. uggg. I'm so ready for
this. Like most of you I've tried everything with some success but
it's often short lived.
So, I've decided that it's time to start researching the Mexican
doctors. I've saved my money so that part is covered. I've heard good
things about several of doctors. I'm leaning towards Dr. Kuri
although I haven't met him or talked to him yet. This is based on
many of the posts I've read. I would love to get some feedback. Feel
free to email me at otksandiego@....
Thanks you!

I was diagosed with sleep apnea several years ago. When I informed
Dr. Kuri and Dr. Peterson I was not told that I cold not have the
surgery because of it. I had surgery with no problems. I'm not
saying that this would be the same for everyone; however, with my
height and weight I'm sure they took the proper pre-cautions. In my
case I felt I was more at risk not having the surgery.

Maybe she can find a fill doctor where she lives and he/she can take

Hi Kristi--
I really have had a great experience with Dr. Kuri... I was living in San Diego
when i got banded and every question was answered and i was able to go to his
office when i thought something was wrong. my port insicion was leaking a little
and hurt.. and he just told me to stop by that same night and he checked it out
gave me a little antibacterial ointment and it was fine.. he's really great i
think.. all my fills were wonderful with him.. ofcourse until i went to this
bozo here in cincinnatti.. at anyrate i highly recommend dr. kuri.. i think he
has done a great job!! Ofcourse everyone in america thinks that you are crazy to
want to have surgery in mexico.. but i thought it was fine.. the operating room
was very modern.. just like in ER!! : ) and the nurses were very nice.. i don't
know.... it was great.. the only thing i would say is that everything goes
fast.. so if you are going to meet with dr. kuri.. i would prepare a list of
questions for him.. he kinda is non chalant about
the surgery since he's done it so many times... but he's always willing to
answer questions... I would give my expereince a 10 out of 10.... also if you
live far from TJ... you can always call him on the toll free line.. i did that
when i was having really bad gas.. it turns out i have IBS.. yeah for me... but
he told me to calm down.. because i thought it was from the band.. and
recommended that i go see a local doctor that what i was having didn't sound
band related.. but ofcourse he said i could come see him.. but i was 2400 miles
away.. but anyway if you have any questions.. let me know.. and by the way i've
lost 106 pounds now.. i have 26 more to go!! i know i can make it!!!

However, if it was one of the 10CC bands (not lapband), then a couple
CC is routinely done by some docs, depending on their estimate of the
amount of "tightness" there was when they did the surgery.

just got filled by an american.. did something go wrong???

2008-08-20 14:25:23

hi all-
i was banded by dr. kuri.. and have had all my fills done by him in
the past except for this last one... i moved to ohio from san
diego.. so i needed someone closer.... at anyrate.. i had a strange
experience.. and i was wondering if any of you out there going to
american doctors have had a similar experience....
so i layed down on the table.. he found the port --- after they
looked at me under flouro.. he stuck a needle in my side.. and
saline started pouring out.. the doctor was like.. i think i lost
about a 1cc.... then they preceeded to add 1.5 ccs.. i went back
under flouro and they said it was restriced.. and i heard the nurse
say.. about how much did you put it.. and he said.. like .25
or.3.... so now i don't know exactly how much is in there.. and
today i'm not feeling much restriction.. but i'm still on liquids..
so i guess i won't really know until i eat real food.. but the last
time i had a fill with dr. kuri... he took all the saline out and
then replaced it was a higher number.. he took out 2.2 and added
2.6... so i knew how much i had... anyway i was just wondering if
anyone else had an experience with saline squirting out of there
side.. or if this guy possible messed something up...
thanks!

Re: Any Licensed Doctors?

2008-08-20 00:25:31

Dr. Ortiz is NOT a licensed US Physician. He along with Dr. Lopez
and Dr. Rumbaut are proctors for Inamed. When one of the these
physicians proctor a US surgeon various forms are completed and
their qualifications such as their medical licenses in Mexico are
verified and notarized.

Re: [mexicanbandsters] Help!!! I need a referal

Make sure you ask CFP if it matters what US state the Dr. is licensed in. A
Doctor who is licensed in California cannot practice medicine in Utah or New
York etc unless he is also licensed in those states. CFP may not need that legal
requirement for Drs who practice medicine in Mexico, but please make sure before
you sign on the dotted line. Good Luck!

fill is done with sterile saline (salt water). The amound is only one

Sometimes when you lose a lot of weight it may be visible as a small
lump. But it looks a heck of a lot better than a big wad of fat. Most
can feel it by pressing over it. It feels like a small hard lump under
your skin and fat. How easy it is to see or feel depends on exactly
where the doc puts it, how much fat is over it, etc, etc. It is NOT a
big deal.

If you know any bandsters in your area, ask them to let you feel their
port. The vast majority of us will be glad to do so. The day before
I got my band I felt several ports in the hot tub at the Seattle Bash
of 03.
Also, consider getting Jessie Ahroni's book on the band, which just
came out. Search her name on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and you'll
find it easily.

Dr. Ortiz is licensed in the US, I believe, since he proctors US

I have been approved for financing through Cosmetic Fee. However the
Dr. I chose is not on their "approved" list. They said it doesn't
matter if I have the surgery in Mexico the Dr. just needs to be
licensed in the U.S. Has anyone else used CFP for finacing?

I'm not sure if you were talking to me -but i am not trying to sound dumb, I
have watched the video on the band but still do not have the full concept of
the fill and the fluid they use, I know you have to have them but not sure
how often and why. I know you have a port under the skin but do you see it
do you feel it,. I want to have the band and am trying to get financing as
we speak. I am sorry if this seems retarded but it is all foreign to me.

How does one contact Mr. Gregorio?
Angela at Dr. Kuri's office put me in contact with Mr.
Gregorio who operates Transporte de Turismo Internacional, a taxi service.

Re: X-ing the Border quickly

2008-08-15 23:25:43

Last time I went to TJ for a fill, my plane landed in San Diego @
11:30am and I had a 12:00 noon appointment. The bus/trolley wasn't an
option, so Angela at Dr. Kuri's office put me in contact with Mr.
Gregorio who operates Transporte de Turismo Internacional, a taxi
service.
For $50, Mr. Gregorio met me @ baggage claim and we climbed into his
van. We jumped the border and he drove me to Medimagen for my fill.
As I recall, we arrived at about 12:10pm, only a few minutes late.
I'm quite thankful for this service and feel it was well worth the
money in terms of time & tips saved.
Though I had plenty of time to make my flight out the next day, I
used Mr. Gregorio's service again to get back to SAN airport. His
special transit pass ensures a shorter wait at the US border, though
I did have to walk into the screening station, thru the metal
detectors and get my bags x-rayed. You exit thru a special door back
to the van and we continued on our way.
Mr. Gregorio's service may help some people schedule appointments at
times it's more convenient or less costly to fly. I believe his
service is available 24x7.

SUCCESSFUL I.E. 1ST MEETING (x-post)

2008-08-14 20:40:16

Thank you all who attended the Inland Empire 1st support Group
Meeting at the Tyler Mall. Their were my husband and I and 12 other
people (sorry I am terrible at names and can only remember a few)
Polar Bear Mike, Kirsten, VOW, Cathy from Washington, a mother
daughter team, VOW's daughter & Boyfriend, 4 pre banded (VOW's
daughter & Libby & 2 others). It was great! It was a small intimate
group, those who wanted purchased food & drinks. We found a spot
over on the side that was nice (they also have a huge outside for
when the weather is cooler). We were able to have group discussion
with the pre-banded to try & help with their biggest fears/concerns
about banding. And with us banded we were able to have good
roundtable discussion on subjects that were good for both pre &
banded people. I can't wait for next month! I will stick with the
1st Saturday of the month as the OSCB meeting is on the 3rd Sunday
of the month. Like I said yesterday, Same Band Channel, same Band
time! (remember BatmanJ). Well since I am now giddy with success I
will close on a high note. IT WAS GREAT!

How are you feeling about the surgery? I have been so excited and all of a

Bandster In Need

Hello Banded People,
First off I wanna say this is gonna be a little off topic but then
again, maybe not so much. I was banded last october and have done
very well so far... I know that most everyone on this board is self
pay since we went to Mexico so I was wondering if there was anyone
out there that lives in the Dallas area that might need help saving
money and might wanna rent a room from me? I have a 3/2/2/2 in
Rowlett. I had originally rented out my house to pay for surgery and
I had rented it for 1 year but they moved out at 6 months without
notice so I moved back in and have decided to just rent a room to
help me pay off my surgery. I would like someone like minded (meaning
Banded) to rent from me as I think that all banded people I have met
so far are very special people (and I've met hundreds). So, if anyone
is interested or knows of anyone please have them contact me.

Message from Dr. Ortiz ---- crosspost

I'm posting this message at the request of my surgeon, Dr. Ariel Ortiz
of Tijuana. I've posted it to three groups, TijuanaBandsters,

of Dr. Ortiz and of his practice has gone on, with a great deal of

I have never heard of Dr. Gonzalez. Do you have a first name? Also,
use the search function on this site. Type in the doctor's name and
read everything you can on this doctor (it may be limited here so
also search as many sites as you can.)
As for driving into TJ I wouldn't do it (if you do be sure to
get "mexican insurance"). Park in a secure lot at the border and take
Mexicoach across.
Please be sure to research this doctor and find out exactly how many
bands he has done because the complication rate goes up the first 50
bands a doctor has done (or around that amount) just because it is a
new experience for the doctor.

2008-08-07 20:45:44

I'm still plugging away trying to get financing. I am approved
through APFUSA for 7000. so I'm very excited about that. Now I'm
faced with finding a Dr. I was leaning towards Dr. Lopez, but have
also been refered to Dr. Gonzalez. Any oppinions? Dr. Gonzalez is
cheaper but does not provide transpertation over the border. My
husband and I are nervous about driving ourselves. We've never been
to Mexico. I would love to hear any advice.
Also, thanks for all the support with my financing problems. BOO
Capitol One!
Thanks

I just used one of those low interest checks from my credit company to pay
for it. I just wrote the check out to myself and put it in my checking
account and then paid the surgeon from my personal account. This was very
easy for me to do this way. No hassles at all.

Re: SO disapointed!

Jennifer,
You can try www.medicredit.com and www.apfusa.com - You can
also ask the Doctor's Office to register with them, it only takes a
few minutes.

SO disapointed!

2008-08-06 07:08:42

I was scheduled for my band surgery with Dr. Lopez, Aug. 23. I was
so excited, then my financing fell thru! Capitol One approved me for
the full ammount. I made sure they excepted Dr's out of the US, she
said as long as they have a US bank account to dirrect deposit the
money to, which Dr. Lopez does. I called Capitol One Friday to see
how long it will take to recieve the loan papers because I was going
to make my flight arrangments, and a different person said that
thier policies have changed, they no longer work with any Dr's out
of the US. I spoke with management and they confirmed this NEW
change! Now I'm SOOOOO disapointed. I hate that it always comes down
to money.
Anyhow, I'm posting to ask if anyone has had good luck with any
other loan companies. Any information on financing my surgery would
be so helpful.
Thank you

Okay I am giving fair warning, please, no more public posts about this it serves no one any purpose, and I am dreading seeing mail come into my inbox.

Sandy's (zsflower..aka Gailkitty) reasons for doing what she did is beyond most decent people's reasoning, and I dont think she did Dr. Ortiz any favors with her actions.

Also obviously, any one can call the Oasis (as Gina did) to check on the facts.

The moderators can't win with this no matter what they do, so if you wish to continue this please email each other privately, and keep it off this board, any more references will be deleted, enough.

Re[2]: [mexicanbandsters] Off on the great adventure

2008-08-05 06:41:48

Dr. McKim in Boise, Idaho. I had consults with four local doctors.
All were recommended by various people, both medical and by personal
friends. A fifth one was also recommended, but since she specializes
in breast reconstructions, and because it takes six months to get a
consult, and another nine to twelve months to get on her surgery
schedule, especially if you're not a breast reconstruction, I didn't
bother with her.
I have been very pleased with Dr. McKim and his staff, and would have
no hesitation to recommend him to anyone else in the area. But I'd
definitely recommend that anyone carefully consider getting their PS
locally if possible, same as getting your band done locally if
possible.

I am absolutley disgusted that you would allow Gina to post negative
information about a Dr. she knows nothing about. I was banded my
Dr.Ortiz and Dr.Martinez June 15, 2004. I had a WONDERFUL experience,
and have complete and total faith in both doctors and thier staff.
HOW DARE YOU GINA TRY AND SCARE PEOPLE! I was banded in LIMARPA. VERY
CLEAN, VERY NICE, VERY UP TO DATE. Infact, I was treated better there
than I have in American hospitals. I had a beautiful view of the golf
course and the city. As for "MAKEING YOU LEAVE THE VERY NEXT MORNING"
that is a load of CRAP. I was asked if I felt the NEED TO STAY
ANOTHER NIGHT. I didn't even leave until after 1pm the next day. Upon
returning to my condo in Del Mar to recoup, I received phone calls
from Gabbie, office assistant, and Dr.Martinez to see how I was
doing. Then, upon coming back home to Las Vegas, I got a phone call
from Dr.Oritz to see if I was doing alright. When I experienced some
pain, that I thought was abnormal (it wasn't) I called and left a
message 8pm. I got a call back at 9pm. Both Dr.Ortiz and Dr.Martinez
have offered to find me a Dr. in Vegas, if I didn't want to travel to
TJ. They have been nothing but PROFESSIONAL, KIND, COURTEOUS, AND
TREATED ME LIKE PART OF THIER FAMILY! I would highly recommend
Dr.Ortiz over any other Dr. in TJ. Infact, GINA, you obiviously
didn't do your research. I researched Dr.Ortiz for 4 months prior to
having him band me. I also researched Dr.Kuri. If you had done your
homework, you would see where you need to put your so called
JUDGEMENTS ON A DOCTOR. AND I CAN TELL YOU IT IS NOT DR ORTIZ OR DR
MARTINEZ. GINA.......YOU ARE IGNORANT. HOW DARE YOU TRY AND RUIN A
VERY GOOD DR'S NAME, SCARE PEOPLE THAT ARE CONSIDERING THIS SURGERY.
YOU JUST MAKE YOURSELF LOOK BAD.
I am very happy with my decision, as is thousands of patients. NOT
HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS!!!!!!!!!
To anybody considering Dr.Ortiz, DON'T LET THE FEEBLE MIND OF ONE
INDIVIDUAL SOUR YOUR MIND AND YOUR DECISION.
I have no regrets, and would do it over, and over, and over, and over
and over again.

Why would you delete a post that mentions "some people have gotten
infections in TJ" but allow this? Isn't this hearsay as well? And
she continues to rant in multiple boards. What she is claiming is
absolutly not correct. Why allow her posts but not others? Just
curious.

Oh boy, I give up! Maureen's post has been deleted from the website. If you read the front of Mexican Bandsters it states quite clearly "This group is for peer support and information. This is also the place to get information about different doctors and their practices, but please only post if it has been *YOUR OWN* experience."

Maureen you cannot arbitrarily state that there have been quite a few people getting infections in TJ if you are not one of them. A patient that had an infection can come on and state that fact, and even name the Doctor, otherwise it's hearsay. Shame on you.

t a patient rep or anything so here's my two cent's
worth. Since you're still researching surgeons, you might want to
consider Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey, Mexico. In my research and just
from watching the posts, I found that there were quite a few people
getting infections lately after having surgery in Tijuana. From
what I heard, this doesn't reflect on the surgeon's skill, but more
on the clinic or hospital cutting corners on the equipment that is
less sterile.
I just had surgery with Dr. Rumbat on 7-20-04 and my care was
excellent. It is a beautiful, modern, full service hospital and
they keep you there overnight. Dr. Rumbaut has performed the lap-
band procedure 2,300 times. He also has the lap-band himself, so he
understands like few surgeons can.
My cost was $9,200, not including travel and hotel expenses.
Probably one of the more expensive doctors in Mexico, but you get
what you pay for. From what I can tell the hospital is what made
the difference in the cost. Just so you know what to expect, the
pre-op tests with the cardiologist/internist made me nervous at
first because the office was far from fancy. However, my fears were
dispelled when I arrived at the hospital, which was excellent. My
husband used to work for a hospital and he was especially impressed
by the nurses there.
If you are interested in Dr. Rumbaut, contact his office directly.
I went through a patient rep company and was sorry afterwards. They
were helpful at first, but as soon as I made the downpayment, I got
no real help from them. Go to Dr. Rumbau's web site
www.gastricband.com. His patient representative, Doralisa, has
always been helpful and replied to my phone calls and emails.
Good luck with your decision!

Re: [mexicanbandsters] Dr. Dobson's New Phone Number For Band Fills

Is he going to be working from same image center in Arlington? Has the new doctor been doing fills long? Dr Dobson has has trouble finding the ports on alot of patients so was just wondering if new dr. had more experience. What do you know about him? Wish they could do fill on tilt table so they can leave needle in as we drink --thats how they do in Paris--liked it better but drive is so far.

RE: Wannabe Mexican Bandsters (x-post)

2008-08-03 15:34:34

Mary,
Perhaps you misunderstand my posts. My issue is: the lack of integrity
by Dr. Ortiz' patient coordinator using deceitful tactics on Dr. Kuri's board;
the FACT that he doesn't use the Oasis Hospital which he represents on his
website (which again was confirmed by my simple call to Oasis) and the FACT
that he has increased his rates while decreasing the quality of care from a
hospital that has a fully operational ICU to the "surgical center" which does
not.
This is highly offensive to me and others as you can see. Sandy is the
one caught lacking in integrity. She was not caught by ME, she was caught
by someone else. This reaffirms my findings.
You are correct that I have not been banded. I am concerned when I see
conduct that is blatantly unprofessional. My attempt is not to create
fear but to share information which is purpose of these boards. I am sorry that
you opted to condemn the messenger (me) rather than acknowledge the
simple facts of this matter.
No, Dr. Ortiz has not offended me. I wanted him to do my surgery.
Please see my previous posts. Conduct by his Representative (Sandy a/k/a
GailKitty2000) is highly offensive and is a reflection on his practice. I would
like
to know whether or not he condones and supports these methods of business.
I am almost certain he would be horrified. In any event someone who makes
the business decisions for his practice needs to educate himself on basic
business principles and take swift action.
With regard to your caution to me that I am "hovering near the slipper
slope of mean-spirited and (my statements are) potentially libelous" you are
erroneous. Since you throw out a legal term, please be advised that TRUTH is
always a defense to a claim of defamation or libel. What I have said is the
TRUTH.
Your caution would be better served by addressing Sandy, the Coordinator for
Ortiz and the offending party in this instance. Please also be advised, that
due
to Sandy's conduct, she has now been prohibited from the
Mexicanbandster site. Of course, she may sneak in under another name.
The fact that you are defending her highly unprofessional tactics by
attempting to divert the attention on to me is suspicious. Perhaps you are yet
another alias of Sandy. Let's be clear on the issues before you attack me.
Again, I am not the one that exposed Sandy's fraud. I merely provided
information as researched by me. Please do not accuse me of trying to
frighten anyone. It is simply a misdirected effort to reframe Sandy's conduct.

ANALYSIS OF SANDY'S DEFENSE AS SEEN ON ORTIZ BOARD (CROSS-POST)

2008-08-03 05:34:49

Sandy (a/k/a GailKitty2000) - PUHLEASE! If you are going to "defend" yourself
please don't cloud the issue.
Let me be concise:
On August 1 "tquinoa" on MEXICANBANDSTERS asked you to defend
yourself concerning "that other allegation".
Your recent post (on Ortiz' board) doesn't address "that other allegation"
(i.e.
you assuming the identity of GailKitty2000 and trying to gain access to Dr.
Kuri's board).
RATHER, you attempt to cloud the issue by pasting your post dated July 14th.
CLEARLY, you are not asking to defend yourself with regard to the issue of the
July 14th post when the request for your defense was dated August 1 with
respect to the post "outing" you dated July 31st.
"Tquinoa" is asking you to defend yourself with regard to your assuming
another identity and gaining access to Dr. Kuri's board. YOU HAVE BEEN
TAGGED!
HELLO! THE POST YOU SHOULD BE RESPONDING TO IS THAT FROM
"AWAYFRMITALL" WHO ON JULY 31st VIA
MEXICAN BANDSTERS EXPOSED YOUR DECEPTIVE WAYS. DO YOU
GET THIS?
Again, you are acting as if we are ignorant people. You have been caught
attempting to gain access to another surgeon's board. Everyone knows patient
coordinators work on commissions. You are fraudently identifying yourself as
someone you are not (i.e. a prospective patient of Dr. Kuri's) when in fact you
ARE DR. ORTIZ'S PATIENT COORDINATOR. PLEASE WAIVE THE WHITE
FLAG AND SURRENDER.
Your integrity is in the toilet. You are sharking other Surgeons websites
looking to harvest their patients for your monetary gain. Shameful. I can only
hope Dr. Ortiz is horrified at your conduct.
The gig is up!
I am cross posting this as others should be aware of a shark in the waters.

Dr. Dobson's New Phone Number For Band Fills

2008-08-02 20:26:15

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to make sure everyone has Dr. Dobson's new phone number 972-
660-3188 to schedule band fills! The 817 number no longer works. Dr.
Dobson also has a new partner Dr. Peterson. Dr. Peterson can also
perform fills. They perform fills twice a week so you can pretty
much get in the same week you call. Great Service for all of us.

Thank you! I've been questioning having surgery in Mexico and this confirms
what I have learned.
This covert attempt from Ortiz's patient coordinator is DISGUSTING but not
surprising given all the changes in Dr. Ortiz's practice lately. I wanted my
surgery with Dr. Ortiz b/c my friend had hers done and she spoke highly of him
(just like everyone else does). I NEVER received a response. I found out that
even though his price has increased a few hundred dollars, the quality has
significantly decreased. Something IS DEFINITELY going on with Ortiz'

Wannabe Mexican Bandsters (x-post long)

Those of you who are considering being banded in Mexico should be aware of a potentially dangerous practice. There are some un-reputable doctors in Mexico that "troll" these boards for patients and there are even some reputable doctors who have patient representatives who are operating without integrity and without their Doctor's knowledge in trolling for patients.

The best way to stop this practice is to not be drawn in by it. Good doctors stand on their reputation and although they may have patient reps in order to make sure that all their patients are taken care of, these reps don't "shark" for clients.

Below is an example of an email I sent today to a representative of a doctor who IS very reputable but has been probably misled by a lying patient rep. I would hate to see this man's reputation ruined by this person actions, however you do need to be aware that there are some doctors who's patient reps operate in this manner WITH the doctors knowledge & consent. IMHO it is lacking in integrity and just shameful.

will need to email me for it):

Dear gailkitty2000 a/k/a Sandy:
Your membership request for Dr. Kuri's board has been rejected.
This is based on the fact that you (1) lied in your application to be a member of our board by stating that "I am researching wls in mexico." (see attached saved file of your application) and (2) you ha
