Re: left shoulder pain

I have not been banded yet. I do know, however, that shoulder pain
is often a result of trapped gas post-operatively. Actually the
phrenic nerve (I think that's the one)in the gut is being irritated
from the gas and the pain is being referred to the shoulder. I would
just increase my activity to try to eliminate the gas. Of course, if
you're very concerned, seek medical care.

    There is really no gas left in the abdomen after surgery, and even if
    there were, it is not in the intestines so can't be "eliminated." The
    shoulder pain is not from any gas. Lyn

    There is no CO2 gas left in the abdomen after surgery. The gas does
    cause some stretching of the internal organs, though, particularly
    the diapragm, ans THAT is what causes the shoulder pain, not the gas
